Boiler Servicing
Regular boiler servicing is vital to ensure that your boiler is running safely and efficiently. We recommend getting your boiler serviced annually as it allows us to pick up on any problems before they escalate into costly repairs. Poorly maintained or faulty boilers also present a serious health risk to you and your family, because they can cause fatal carbon monoxide poisoning.
Below is a checklist that you might find helpful which details when and how to book a service and what to expect.
What do our engineers do during a boiler service?
Our engineer will inspect your boiler and controls to make sure they are operating safely.
The inspection will include checking your boiler for corrosion and leaks.
Your boiler casing will be removed to check the functioning of its main components.
A gas pressure check will ensure your boiler is operating at the correct gas pressure.
A flue test will ensure that no unsafe emissions are being released from your boiler.
Your boiler’s parts will be cleaned as required.
Your boiler’s casing will be put back on and properly sealed.
Our engineer will leave a copy of the service record with you for your files
5 Facts You Didn’t Know About Your Boiler
Helping you to save money on your annual heating bills and ensure your central heating system’s efficiency, here are five basic boiler facts every homeowner should know:
1. Upgrading your boiler could save you hundreds of pounds
According to The Energy Saving Trust, a new, energy efficient boiler with a full set of heating controls could save you around £320 a year in heating costs*.
2. Controlling the temperature could slash your bills
Turning down your thermostat by as little as one degree could reduce your heating bills by almost 10 per cent.
3. Ensuring the right pressure will increase efficiency
Your boiler pressure gauge should measure between 1-1.5 bar. Too little pressure could lead to inefficiency and high energy bills.
4. The stronger the flame the better the burn
With older boilers, the flame in your boiler should be a strong, clear blue. If it appears yellow, orange or hazy it may be a sign of the fuel burning incorrectly and the presence of carbon monoxide.
5. Inefficiency costs more in the long run
Around 70% of what you spend on energy bills annually can be attributed to the efficiency of your boiler, so it’s important to invest in the most efficient boiler within your budget.
